HAL ROCK DRILL GREASE
Gain predictive performance and reduce the total cost of capital asset ownership.
The demands on specialized equipment is significant. Maintain asset condition by selecting an industrial lubricant that meets your OEM design characteristics, operating conditions, and environmental factors.
In 1996 Sudbury Mining Products began extensive testing at Inco’s South Mine to reduce oil mist reduction in pneumatic rock drills. It was found that HaL Grease decreased oil mist by a significant 83-90%. However, this was not the only advantage of using grease. The reduction in maintenance costs and lubrication consumption were significant (30% and 50% respectively). Since 1999, Vale has used SMP HaL Rock Drill grease exclusively on their ITH Drill Hammers (Atlas Copco) Today, Sandvik Cubex is one of our largest customer’s that recommends the use of SMP HaL grease.
There are numerous advantages to using HAL rather than oil for lubrication. When grease is used it coagulates at the cold exhaust / flushing air, therefore reducing atomization. It is more efficient, resulting in a better seal. HAL has also proven to demonstrate superior lubrication qualities when used at higher temperatures. Oil is prone to water wash, whereas grease adheres to the metal which reduces actual consumption up to 50%.”
